Welcome to Mrs. Diekman's Classroom!
My name is April Diekman and I will be your child’s 3rd grade teacher this year. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year working with you and your child.
Since I will be spending so much time with your child this year, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. This will be my ninth year teaching third grade at Central. Prior to this, I taught 2nd grade at Burton Glen Academy for a year and a half. I have my Bachelor’s degree with a major in language arts and a minor in social studies. I also have a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
My husband James and I have three sons: Collin is sixteen years old, Aaron will be eleven this October and Dean who is seven years old. In addition, we have a Newfoundland dog named Carter, an Austrailian Sheperd named Birch, and a few chickens. I love camping, kayaking, gardening, and anything to do outside.
Our room number is 121. You can find my classroom in the 3rd-6th grade hallway. I am the 2nd room down from the office. Our lockers are right by our classroom.
As a teacher, I am very committed to the importance of parent involvement in a student’s education. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. My email is april.diekman@flushingschools.org. You may also call our classroom and leave a message at 591-1911. I welcome your calls and messages.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Diekman
