Star of the Week

  • Star of the Week

While your child is the Star of the Week, each day of the week will consist of an exciting event or activity to honor him or her.

During the week before a student is Star of the Week, a backpack will be sent home with the child.  Students have the week to collect everything they need.   If it is easier for you and your family, send all items back in the backpack as soon as they are collected and finished! (Even if it is a week early!)   I can give items to the students as they need them.   Thank you for helping him or her complete the tasks they need to make this a very special week for your child!

     *Monday*

All About Me Pictures: The Star of the Week will bring in 5 pictures to share with the class.  They will be displayed in our classroom for the whole for students to look at!

    *Tuesday*

Favorite Book: The Star of the Week brings one of his or her favorite books to read to the class.  Students can read the book aloud to the class if it can be read in less than 10 minutes or give a book-talk if the book is longer.

     *Wednesday*

Show and Tell:  Students need to collect 3 special items that fit in the special backpack and bring them back to school to show the class.  ANYTHING that fits in backpack is appropriate!

    *Thursday*

Mystery Box:  The mystery box is presented with 3 clues for our class to guess.  Please help your child fill out the 3 clues, and it needs to be brought back by Thursday.  Anything that will fit in the box is fair game!

    *Friday*

Parent Letter: Parents will write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you!  Send the letter in a sealed envelope to school  and I will read the letter to the class at class meeting.  The content of the letter is up to you, but feel free to choose from the following:

    • describe special or funny stories about your child
    • write a silly or serious poem about your child
    • tell us some neat things we may not know about your child
    • send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the pictures
    • write a short story with your child as the main character
    • send a video for the class to watch if you choose
